For Irish Seattleites and the Irish-at-heart alike, there are a lot of great places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Ballard and beyond. This holiday started as a religious feast for Ireland’s patron saint, and is now a global celebration of Irish culture. If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate in Seattle, Ballard is a great place to start. If you’re not sure where to start for St. Patrick’s Day this year, here are a few great options.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade, March 11
The Irish Heritage Club of Seattle holds an annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downtown Seattle. Starting at 12:30 on 4th Avenue and James Street and ending at Westlake Park, this parade showcases Irish music, dancing, local groups and more. After the parade, participants can also ride the monorail to Seattle Center for free to attend the Irish Festival and continue the celebration all afternoon.
St Patrick's Day Dash, March 12th
If you’re hoping to get a head start on celebrating, get in a good workout, and support a number of charities in the Northwest, the St. Patrick’s Day Dash is the event for you. A 5K around Downtown Seattle, this is a popular annual event for the whole family (and even includes a 1K Leprechaun Lap” where children under ten can sprint around Seattle Center.) Proceeds benefit the Detlef Schrempf Foundation which is an umbrella charity that benefits a number of children centric organizations in the Northwest randing from the Inspire Youth Project to Seattle Children's’ Hospital.
Conor Byrne Pub, March 16 and 17
If you’re looking for some quality food, great drinks, and live music, Conor Byrne is your place. On St. Patrick’s Day, they have live music starting at noon and going until midnight showcasing a number of different artists. They have local and Irish beer on draft, craft cocktails, and a whole lot more on their menu. They’re also having live music the day before St. Patrick's Day. Just one block from Hotel Ballard, this is a great place to enjoy the festivities and make the most of the weekend, no transportation required.
Ballard Loft, March 17
If you’re looking for all day festivities on St. Patrick's Day, Ballard Loft is your place. They’re offering an Irish Breakfast special from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. If you’re a morning person, there will be a toast at 6:20 am, in hopes of being the first to raise a glass in Seattle on St. Paddy’s Day, and all toast attendees will receive VIP status, which will get them $2.00 off Guinness Pints all day and all night. They’re also offering $1 off Jameson, and NCAA tournament viewing. Whether you’re hoping to make it for the early morning toast or at any point in the day, the Ballard Loft is an easy five minute walk from Hotel Ballard.
