New Neighbor - Shingletown Pub Coming to Ballard
It’s always exciting to get a new neighbor! This summer, we’re excited to welcome Ballard’s newest hangout spot, Shingletown Northwest Pub & Eatery, to the neighborhood. Located a short walk away from Hotel Ballard on NW Market Street and Russell Ave NW, it’s sure to be a restaurant we recommend to our guests.
By the owners of local favorite Ballard Loft, Shingletown brings Seattle’s maritime neighborhood back to its roots. Ballard was the leading producer of wood shingles in the late 1890s, coining the nickname “Shingle Town USA.” After the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, the majority of rebuild materials were produced in Ballard. The population soared during these years with people moving to Seattle for jobs in the mills along with other booming manufacturing industries. By 1904, Shingle Town’s ten mills were producing up to three million shingles each day!
Shingletown Pub & Eatery will celebrate Ballard’s lumber mill history in a modern atmosphere. Guests will get a glimpse into the neighborhood’s rich past while celebrating its contemporary present. Antique saws, vintage wood, refurbished materials, and hand-painted cedar mill logos on brick are a few elements that make up Shingletown’s interior. The food menu features Northwest-inspired dishes using farm fresh ingredients, with snacks to small plates to full meals and desserts. The full bar offers craft cocktails, draft/bottled beers, wine, and growlers to go. A quaint outdoor patio area and large open windows are perfectly inviting for the grand summer opening.
Shingletown is set to open this weekend to the public. This new pub/eatery is sure to become a new Ballard favorite for locals and visitors. If you’re staying with us at Hotel Ballard in the future, be sure to check it out and tell us how your experience was!
