SeafoodFest Makes a Splash in Ballard
Dive into summer with fresh Northwest fare! There is perhaps no better time to indulge in Seattle’s culinary delights than SeafoodFest in Ballard. Among the city’s many annual summertime festivals, this event brings the community together in celebration of all the fresh ocean ingredients this region has to offer.
Come celebrate Ballard’s maritime history at this year’s SeafoodFest! The festival is on Saturday, July 11th from 11am-10pm and Sunday, July 12th from 11am-7pm. It’s free and open to the public.
SeafoodFest is a Ballard neighborhood tradition and one of Seattle’s most iconic summer festivals, originating in 1971 as a two-hour barbecue. This community celebration recognizes Ballard’s historic Nordic heritage and connection to the fishing industry. What began as a dinner to raise money for the Ballard Chamber of Commerce has grown into an anticipated two-day festival that attracts more than 65,000 locals and visitors. SeafoodFest moved from September to July in 1979, and over the years became more of a family-friendly summer festival with added elements of activities, local art, music and more.
Vendors and activities will be located in the heart of the neighborhood along Ballard Ave NW, NW Market Street, and up to NW 58th Street (click here for a complete map). Enjoy local arts and crafts, live music, family entertainment, a beer garden, skate event, and of course the main attraction—plenty of fresh seafood! This year’s Main Stage lineup includes performances by local bands Pickwick, The Maldives, Moondoggies, Young Evils and more.
